The Biggest Things Need the Fewest Words

L had her baby today. I was there. It went perfectly, a completely textbook procedure, and mother and baby – another girl, 9 pounds 6 ounces – are healthy and happy.

There’s not much else to say about it all, really. That seems to happen, with the big things in life: “We had a baby,” “We bought a house,” “My grandmother died,” they’re all easy to sum up and don’t need much in the way of supporting details. Of course it was amazing and special, of course the baby is beautiful (and loud), of course the hard part starts now.

But it was wonderful, and now I am completely exhausted. And all I did today was watch.

  1. Congratulations to all. 🙂

  2. Congratulations to all of you! What a beauty!! Get some sleep while you can… Talk to you soon! xo

  3. Aww congratulations to her .. .big baby! She’s fortunate to have you.

  5. Precious baby girl! Congrats to the family!

  6. Congrats to your friend, and kudos to you for being there for her. There must have been a part of you – however tiny – that ached while seeing that baby be born. I know it would me.

  7. What a cutie! Congratulations to mama and girls.

I hope you rest tonight. 🙂

  8. Congratulations! She’s lovely.

This post made my ovaries glow…and I am SO done having kids.

  11. Congratulations! She is beautiful, just like her Mom and big sister.

  12. Oh my gosh – 9 pounds! WHat a beautiful girl. Such kissable cheeks. Congratulations to all.
